The 2026 GLFL Draft kicked off on Sunday, August 30, 2026, at 7:00 PM CDT, marking the first draft under the newly rebranded Great Lakes Football League banner. Transitioning away from the experimental auction format used in 2025, the league returned to a traditional linear, non-snaking draft in which each round followed the same order — beginning with the Miami Inferno at No. 1 overall based on reverse standings from the previous season and ending with the defending champion Boston Brawlers at No. 12.

Unlike previous seasons, however, the 2026 draft was not a complete roster reset. General Managers were permitted to retain up to 25 players from their 2025 rosters, with the August draft consisting of rookies, free agents and other available players needed to complete each team's roster. Every franchise began selecting in Round 1, but the number of selections varied based on individual roster needs. A team with five open roster spots, for example, participated through Round 5, while a team needing seven players continued through Round 7.

The unique format made the 2026 draft a transitional moment in league history. Rather than building entire rosters from scratch, General Managers entered the night with established cores already in place and used the draft to address weaknesses, add depth and take chances on new talent. The result was a different kind of draft strategy — one focused less on constructing a team from the ground up and more on finding the right pieces to complete it.

The draft results below include only players selected during the 2026 rookie and free-agent draft. Players retained from 2025 rosters are not listed as draft selections. Because teams entered the draft with different numbers of open roster spots, franchises exited the draft once their rosters were complete.
